DAY 01: UYUNI – TRAIN CEMETERY – COLCHANI – INCAWASI ISLAND – COQUEZA: Early morning around 10:00am a driver & guide will pick you up from the hotel in Uyuni (Bolivia) then you will be driven to Train Cemetery: The first railroad in Bolivia, which worked on the route from Uyuni to Antofagasta in 1899, as freight and passenger train, carrying minerals from Huanchaca mine. The age of the trains lasted a short time; locomotives that were stopped by lack of maintenance were transferred for storage to Uyuni and so it was born the train cemetery, which now is part of an industrial past. The railway expired definitely with the capitalization in 1993 and the systematic dismissal of nearly 1,000 workers. Then we continue to Colchani Village, a small town located on the shores of the Great Salt Lake, 22km away from Uyuni, with a population of few hundred Indians, which is the main entrance to Salt Mines, the biggest salt deposit in the world. Colchani is 3680 masl and with an area of 12,000 km ², which was formed by the evaporation of ancient seas, where the main activity is the extraction of salt in traditional way as the process of drying, grinding and bagging. Colchani is only 2 km away from Salt Lake where it was extracted the salt. This salt plain is made by about 11 layers of salt; its thickness varies between 2 and 10 meters. It is estimated that there is 10 billion tons of salt, so it would be one of the biggest reserves of lithium in the world. Then we enter into the desert of salt to explore the salt eyes (natural conduits that ends in holes through which circulate salt water). We continue to Isla Incawasi, located in the desert of salt to 95km from Uyuni village, the Incawasi Island is populated by numerous giant cactus with up to 10m height, from the top you can admire the wonderful landscape of the salt plain and it has an area of 12,000 km ². The island is completely deserted, like all the other islands of the salt plain. Lunch at foot of Isla Incawasi. Free time to explore the surroundings. Afterwards we go ahead to Coqueza, typical village located at foot of Tunupa volcano to 38km from Incawasi island, making stops en route. Afternoon explore the surroundings. Dinner included at lodge. Overnight at Coqueza village.

Tunupa: It is a volcano located south of the department of Oruro, near to the Salar de Uyuni with a height of 5432 meters. The name it has is due to the god of thunder and lightning TUNUPA. In the area grows some plants like yareta and thola, etc. Also there are some animals like the llamas, Chinchillas and flamingos. The volcano is the guardian of the Salar de Uyuni (salt deset).
